Introduction

Welcome! Thanks for coming by – my name is Jenn and I have been teaching private music lessons for almost 30 years. Lessons are available for piano, strings, and brass. I have also been known to give some pointers for voice. 

Lessons

My hours are somewhat flexible, but I generally teach Monday - Wednesday from 3-8pm. I can teach in person or virtually. Prices are $20 for 20 mins, $30 for the half an hour, or $55 for the full hour. Discounts for siblings/family members.

Approach

To use a cliché, I do not use a cookie cutter approach to music lessons. Each student is different with different strengths, weaknesses, and goals in music. That being said, my goals for each student are to read music, develop ear training skills, develop music theory, develop practice skills, develop performance skills (although not a requirement to actually perform, a must to work on), and to develop all those fun side effects of music like positive self-esteem, better math and reading skills, motor control, etc. I work with the student (and parents, if appropriate) to decide what he or she wants to obtain from music lessons. Remember not all of us want to be professional musicians and that is OK. Some of us just want a hobby, some students need help overcoming special needs. I have/had students with multiple physical disorders, ADHD, and Autism to name a few. No student is too young or too old.
